Easy-Does-It Bathroom Cleaning

Easy-Does-It Bathroom Cleaning

Any big cleanup is made easier when you use these daily timesaving tips and tricks shared by Right@Home members.
It's the most used room in the house—where you begin your day with an eye-opening shower or relax at day's end with a long, soothing soak. And where everyone else does...well...just about everything.

Since the bathroom is often occupied, you'll want to get in there and get it cleaned up quick before there's another knock on the door. Here are some of our favorite speedy bathroom cleaning tips from Right@Home™ members.

Squeeze in the opportunity.

Anita H. of Brunswick, GA and Tracey M. of Hollidaysburg, PA shared similar ideas with us. “As a mother of a 4 ½ year old and a 1 ½ year old, the bathroom stays dirty," says Anita, "To save a little time, I keep cleaning wipes under the sink to use while my kids play in the tub." She gets more done by cleaning and watching the kids at the same time. Scrubbing Bubbles® Antibacterial Bathroom Wipes are perfect for quick clean-ups, because you can use them on toilets, sinks, fixtures, countertops, and more—no need to switch products.

Tracey's three-year old daughter is old enough to wash and play in the tub while Tracey uses the time to scrub the toilet and shower and clean the mirror and sinks. "…This is an excellent time to clean the bathroom..."

Break it up.

Debbie P. of Glencoe, OK breaks cleaning the bathroom into several small cleaning jobs. "I tend to get more cleaning done that way. I may walk into the bathroom and decide to clean the toilet. Later in the day, I may go back and clean the tub and again later, I might clean the sink and counter. Just do a little at a time and before you know it, the jobs are complete."

Choose cleaning products that do most of the hard work for you, like Scrubbing Bubbles® Mega Shower Foamer. Spray it on and instantly it begins to penetrate and dissolve soap scum. Come back a few minutes later and just rinse or wipe away the foam to leave a brilliant shine.

Make cleaning part of your morning routine.

Don't be caught off-guard. Patricia D. of Tuckahoe, NY shares her favorite time-saving tip. "In the bathroom, when I have finished my morning ritual, I empty the trash can, and wipe down the mirror, sink and toilet with paper towels and glass cleaner. It takes about a minute, yet if I have unexpected company in the evening, I don't have to think about what the bathroom looks like." Hint: Try Windex® Multi-Surface Antibacterial. It cleans and shines surfaces such as glass, chrome and mirrors while killing 99.9 percent of bacteria*—and there's no dull residue!

Keep cleaning wipes or paper towels handy.

"One thing that never seems to look clean after having kids is the bathroom," says Liz M. of Charlotte, NC, "Between potty training and toothpaste splatter, something’s always wet."

"To cut down on this constant eyesore, I installed a paper towel rack on the wall. I dampen the paper towel with water, run it over everything and what a difference it makes. The cleaning wipes are better but … I can’t keep those in the bathroom (they look like baby wipes to my son.) So when I’m in the bathroom, I like to have the paper towels right there and handy."

Spray first.

Michael C. of Flagstaff, AZ has a piece of advice for faster bathroom cleaning. "One word—soak!" says Michael, "I’ll coat the bowl, spray the sink, the tub, and wipe down the bathroom mirror. Then I will clean each in succession. A few minutes soaking makes it a quick effort to get all the stains and residue from all the surfaces.

I have found that if you lightly spray your glass shower doors with pledge and wipe them down, water spots are a thing of the past.

I was told my office manager for a natural nonharsh cleaner that is also inexpensive is peroxide/water solution. I clean my granite countertops, island, and stainless steel appliances with it and it cleans up great. Peroxide is a natural bacteria killer and it is environmentally safe. I put the half peroxide half water mixture in a spray bottle and clean the bathroom sinks and hardware with it too. Try it and see, you will save tons of money.

Another quick good-smelling way is to spray sink, handles, stool etc with a disinfectant deodorizer/spray & wipe it down. Works great in a pinch
