The mail never stops, through rain, sleet, snow and hail it will keep on coming. This means almost every day you have new paperwork to process through your house. As someone who really hates paperwork this becomes a real chore, and can really pile up if you start to let it go.
As you walk in with the mail you should have at least three separate storage containers, one for things to look over (such as junk that piqued your interest or invitations), one for bills, and one for coupons. This is especially handy if you can’t get to the mail right away, or if more than one person needs to go through it. For families, you can also have a container for the children in case they get mail.
When you finally get a moment to go through the mail, first go through the bills. I like to open them and throw away everything but the bill itself. Since I use online bill pay I never need the envelope that is sent with the bill. They then get placed in a container on my desk to be paid. Next you can go through the container of things to look over. Any invitations or event notices should go directly on your calendar, if you plan on attending.
Write the RSVP number on your to do list and the address on the calendar if you do not know it. With birthday/holiday/thank you cards, you will most likely open them right away since they are always so fun to get! Lastly it’s time to break out the scissors and cut out coupons you have received.
Once the coupons are clipped they should go into some sort of coupon organizer.
Even though the mail doesn’t stop, you have a way to stay on top of the mail!
