Materials

  • Assorted glass cruets or perfume bottles
  • Food coloring
  • Small or miniature blossoms in bright vibrant colors, 1-5 stems per cruet (i.e., yellow mini daffodils, roses, mums, gerber daisies, etc. )
  • Sharp knife or flower cutters

Instructions

step 1 Thoroughly clean all cruets, making sure not to leave any soap residue as it will shorten flower's life.
step 2 Fill containers 3/4 full with water, adding a few drops of chlorine bleach to keep water fresh. Remove any leaves or foliage that will be below water line.
step 3 Measure stem length next to cruet to see where stems should be cut. The flowers should top-off at about 1/2 the height of the container.
step 4 Cut stems on a 45-degree angle for better water absorption.
step 5 Before putting flowers in cruets, add food coloring drop by drop until you reach the desired hue and intensity of blossom.
step 6 Place stems in cruet.
