Materials

  • Floral foam
  • Decorative multisectioned wooden box
  • Ziploc® Brand Sandwich Bags or Saran™ Premium Wrap
  • Double-stick tape
  • Sharp knife
  • Tight flower-head blossoms in complementary, bright colors (yellow ranunculus, orange gerber daisy, pink tulips, red carnations, purple trachelium, green lotus pod)

Instructions

step 1Soak floral foam for 30 minutes.
step 2Line inside of each section of wooden box with Ziploc® Brand Sandwich Bags or Saran™ Premium Wrap attaching to upper edges with double-stick tape to protect box from being damaged or stained by water.
step 3Cut floral foam into squares to fit sections of box.
step 4Push floral foam into each section and secure.
step 5Hold flower stems up to box's vertical edge to judge how much of stem should be cut (top edge of flowers should meet top of box's edge.)
step 6Cut flowers' stems with sharp knife on 45-degree angle to absorb the most water and to assist in pressing stems into floral foam.
step 7Continue cutting flower heads until you have enough to fill the section with flower heads (or use one large flower to cover entire section).
step 8Start in corner of one section and continue inserting blossoms very closely to each other in rows, until section is complete. (Replace tighter or looser blooms to achieve a tightly packed-in block of color.)
step 9Continue process with each section, checking for color compatibility until box is complete.
step 10Mist flower heads and keep floral foam as moist as possible so blossoms remain fresh.

I agree, where would you find a box like this? But also I'd sand, stain, and polyurethane first. That would give it a glossy POP!
