Bringing Spring Scents Indoors

Welcome the change of season with scents as refreshing as a balmy breeze.

Invite the fresh, clean scents of spring into every room in your home any time of the year.

Clear the air.

You wouldn’t start painting a wall without priming it first and the same goes for adding scent. Prep just about any room in your home for bright spring scents by first using Glade® Tough Odor Solutions Air Sanitizer to kill airborne odor-causing bacteria. It’s easy to use, works fast and leaves a fresh, clean fragrance.

Add scent.

Did you know that one of the most acclaimed florists in Paris, Odorantes, arranges flowers by scent rather than shape or color? Try it yourself by choosing flowers and fragrances to create layers of complementary aromas.

Most fragrances can be described as spicy, woody, fruity, citrusy, green or floral. When combined with fruity and floral fragrances, spicy woody scents add warmth and depth, while citrusy or green scents add freshness. Try layering a Glade® Jar Candle in Angel Whispers® (fresh and floral) with Glade® PlugIns® Scented Oil in the slightly spicy Apple Cinnamon fragrance.

Range farther afield.

Aromatic herbs like rosemary, basil and lavender can add unexpected notes of scent. Or choose some flats of wheatgrass, readily available at many florists and nurseries, for the fresh look and smell of grass after a spring shower.

Let the sunshine in.

As the days are getting longer, take advantage of every welcome ray of sunshine. Windex® Crystal Rain™ combines the famous Windex® streak-free shine with a refreshingly clean scent.

Think large and small.

On May 1, there is a sweet tradition of carrying a little bouquet of lilies of the valley. These gently scented flowers look charming in unusual containers—an empty perfume bottle or a glass cruet vase. A small vase of lilies of the valley on a desk is delightfully unexpected and perfect for a refreshing whiff. Or use a collection of small vases to make a bigger impact.

Uncommon scents.

Certain types of daffodils are fragrant, including most Narcissus jonquilla. Include them in a spring bouquet of dwarf irises, single early tulips and English bluebells for a pleasant fragrance. Hyacinths and lilacs have a heady aroma, and a few in a vase will quickly fill a room with scent. Try some on your bedside table.

See the light.

A dancing flame can enhance the ambience of almost any room. For both flame and luscious scent, consider burning a Glade® Jar Candle in Lavender and Vanilla. For areas in need of a little more ambiance, quickly fill the whole room with fragrance with Glade® Scented Oil Candles in Fresh Berries.

Tricking Mother Nature.

For late winter or early spring season, bring some branches of flowering shrubs and trees into your home for a little flair. Forsythia, dogwood or flowering fruit trees are all good choices. To force the flowers and their scent, pick a sunny day with temperatures above freezing and use sharp garden shears to cut above a bud. Then place the branches immediately in a vase filled with lukewarm water. When you bring them inside, make a one-inch vertical cut in the stem, add a few drops of hydrogen peroxide to the water and set your branches away from direct sunlight. Be sure to change the water regularly.

Your lilac idea is a good one, do you offer it? If not you should!!! Please make a note to the proper department about putting together a line for lilac. I am sure it would be a great product.
