Dunking these waffles into yummy dipping sauces like peanut butter-cinnamon is as fun as it is delicious.

  • 8 frozen waffles
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup jam
  • 1/2 cup strawberry yogurt (or any yogurt you like)
  • 16 strawberries, rinsed and hulled
  • 2 bananas, peeled and sliced into eight pieces each
  • 1 orange, peeled and in segments


Frozen French toast can be substituted for waffles.


step 1 Cut each waffle into 4 strips. Preheat oven and bake waffles according to package directions. Then turn oven down to 200 degrees F to keep waffles warm.
step 2 In a small, microwave-safe bowl mix together peanut butter and cinnamon. Pour maple syrup and spoon jam into small, microwave-safe bowls. Warm both in microwave on low power for 45 seconds.
step 3 Spoon yogurt into another bowl. Place the four bowls of dipping sauces in the center of a serving platter. Arrange waffles and fruit around bowls and serve immediately.

Chef's notes

You can easily add more fun by serving bowls of crunchy toppings like sprinkles, granola or chopped nuts for dipping after the sauces.

Hulling a strawberry means taking off the berry’s leaves and stem. You can do it with your fingers, a knife or, even better, a little tool called a strawberry huller.

This is a super idea! I have a lot of teens that come thru my house and they are always dipping food in something....hot sauce, ranch or something. This dish would be perfect for them! Simple to fix too. Nice change to just the standard syrup thing which I think is a lot messier and really sticky! Great for a group too! Thanks for such a super idea!

It's a good page and it really interested me. The waffle recipe sounds a bit too sweet for my taste even though I love waffles. I prefer mine with either real maple syrup or clover or buckwheat honey. The food vote is a good idea too.
