Whip up this creamy, savory soup that will warm you from the inside out. The addition of Chinese five-spice adds texture and depth, but it’s not super spicy, and a little goes a long way.

Ingredients

2 tbsp

extra virgin olive oil

2

cloves garlic, peeled and crushed

cans pumpkin puree

5 cups

chicken or vegetable broth

⅓ cup

maple syrup

½ tbsp

Chinese five-spice

½ cup

heavy whipping cream


directions

Step 1

In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat oil and garlic over medium heat for 5 minutes until garlic is fragrant. Remove the garlic and discard.

Step 2

Add pumpkin puree, broth, maple syrup and five spice. Stir until smooth.

Step 3

Bring to a boil and reduce heat to medium-low. Simmer for 10 minutes.

Step 4

Remove from heat and stir in cream. Add salt and pepper to taste. Serve.
